Essentials of Healthy Living

Maintain Your Brain

No matter what your age may be, you can take steps now to increase your chances of having lifelong mental agility. Healthy brain function requires many important nutrients as well as an active, social lifestyle. Aging, stress, diet, exercise, "stretching" your mental ability, and exposure to free radicals all affect cognitive health. You may also choose to take supplements to boost your body's brain-sustaining systems.

Numerous clinical studies show the safety and efficacy of nutritional supplements in supporting memory and cognitive function. These four important nutrients play an important role in maintaining healthy brain function. Click and learn more!

  • Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA)

Meet Naz Amini
Nutrition Advisor

 Naz Amini

Naz has been a familiar, cheerful face at Village Green for 5 years, and customers often sing her praises. She’s well known for being helpful, and her knowledge of natural healthcare reflects years of personal experience.

Several years ago, Naz suffered from eczema and low energy. After trying various pharmaceutical products, she found little relief — and experienced an adverse reaction to one of them.

It turned out that her system is very sensitive to chemicals. But when she used natural products, she saw much better results. At last, her skin cleared up and her energy level rose.

After her positive experiences, Naz decided that she wanted to share what she had discovered, and to learn more. So she came to work for Village Green Apothecary while going to school part-time to earn a degree in Public Health. She’s now a full-time staffer at Village Green, and has completed her B.A. in Public and Community Health.

Naz’s specialty is helping people with skin conditions (such as psoriasis and eczema). She also has expertise in the impact of emotional stress on the adrenal glands, which can cause depression and mood swings.

Since she knows firsthand how natural healthcare can improve life, Naz is passionate about sharing her knowledge with others. If she can help others a little bit towards
the positive, she feels fulfilled and rewarded.

Naz says, “It’s better than winning the lottery!”

Recommend Supplements for Healthy Brain Support

Pathway BRAIN SUPPORT Supports Normal Brain Function
This formula offers a blend of scientifically documented ingredients to support normal brain function, including:

  • European ginkgo biloba which is standardized to 24% Flavonglycosides,
    6% terpene lactones, and .8% ginkgolide B;
  • DHA, a necessary essential fat used in the brain and nervous system;
  • Leci-PS® (phosphatidyl serine) to support mental concentration, and
  • Acetyl L-Carnitine from Lonza, which specifically supports brain cell receptors.

Pathway NEUROMINS DHA Brain Food
DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid) is a polyunsaturated omega-3 fatty acid found throughout the body. A major structural fat in the brain and retina, DHA is also a key component of the heart and is an important building block for nerve tissue. Pathway NEUROMINS™ is an excellent all-natural, vegetarian source of DHA that can be taken by the whole family including pregnant women and children.

Pathway PS-100 Plus For Peak Mental Performance
Phosphatides make up the protective membrane covering every cell, including those found in the brain. Normally the body manufactures its own phosphatides from nutrients provided by the diet, but if your diet is deficient in any of these key nutrients, your body may not make a sufficient amount for healthy brain function. This formula contains phosphatidylserine (PS), phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylethanolamine, and phosphatidylinositol.

Pathway ACETYL L-CARNITINERaw Materials Needed for Sharp Memory
Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALC) plays a vital role in the transportation of fats into mitochondria (the powerhouses of the cells), and assists in the production of acetylcholine, a key neurotransmitter. Studies indicate that ALC may support normal aging in the brain and body, and studies of young subjects also show that ALC may enhance their normal central nervous system functioning.

Pathway GINKGO BILOBAPromotes Mental Clarity
Research shows that ginkgo may support healthy physical and mental aging, while encouraging healthy circulation in the brain and fighting free radicals there. Our product contains a high quality 50:1 extract standardized to contain the active components responsible for its beneficial effects.
